Friendly Reminder: Now’s the Time to Find Clearance-Priced Coats

I love outerwear. I admit I have a semi-ridiculous number of jackets and coats — but I love them all! It’s fun to have a variety of colors, fabrics, cuts and weights. Some days call for my heavy-duty, knee-length wool coat from Victoria’s Secret. Others may require a simple lightweight khaki trench. And when an outfit calls for a pop of something different, I pull out my thrift-store, grey leather coat. Needing some of color? I grab my green, satin swing coat, complete with a funky, gold zipper.

If you’re 2005 winter coat is finally reaching its expiration — or if your wardrobe generally needs more variety — now is the PERFECT time to go outerwear hunting.

Around late January and early February, retailers start significantly marking down heavy coats, jackets and other outerwear to make room for spring and summer styles and cuts. So next time you’re in the neighborhood of Old Navy, Ross, TJ Maxx, Target or other, swing by and see what kind of deal you can score.

Coat pictured here: my new Nine West Fuchsia lightweight trench. I found it at Ross in Raleigh, North Carolina, last weekend for $25 (retailed pre-Ross for $200). Ignore the face – my makeup hadn’t yet found its way to my face this morning.

Hey there-
I stumbled across this blog coming from the AsianCajuns and I wanted to say that it was a little bit of a surreal experience, as I am not so much your doppelgänger, as I am you in my own body. I divulge, I am also named Katy and enjoy thrifting and we are under contract on a house in the Decatur area.

Okay enough weirdness there. I wanted to let you know that there is a Goodwill IN Buckhead on Roswell Road and it is definitely the new place for Buckhead Betties to drop-off their unwanted clothes (Saks Fifth Avenue!) furniture and even china! You should definitely check it out as it is a basically brand-new store. There used to be a Belk store there, so the Goodwill layout is really nice and since its new, everything smells clean!

Hope you enjoy and hope I didn't freak you out!

Thanks, Mom!

Kt, that is so random! And "Katy" isn't the most typical spelling of our name. Too funny. And no, I'm not freaked out -- I love small world experiences and coincidences. I'll have to check out the Roswell Rd. Goodwill. Thanks for stopping by the blog and for the recommendation!

Yep, this is the best time to buy outerwear for sure! I have so many coats now, I don't need anymore. I got 2 coats for $50 at H&M around Thanksgiving and I had like 10 coat prior to buying those, so I'm good for a while. I have been buying coats for my son though.

I remember those steals you got on the H&M coats. That's while you were in NY, right?

This IS an especially good time to buy kids' coats. They grow so fast!
